3 Tips for an Easy Fall-Themed Table

The holidays can come with lots of additional (and often unnecessary) stress, so I’m opting for an easy transition into the fall season this year—here are a few tips and favorites from the Fall Decor section at Home Goods for adding festive ambiance with a little less drama, and a lot of savings, along the way.

Decorate for the Season

When shopping, I look for pieces that work for the larger season so that I can keep them up for a few months at time, rather than changing for each specific holiday. For my style, a rattan or ceramic pumpkin works better than a jack-o-lantern. I also love this pumpkin tablecloth that can last you from the first crunchy leaf till the day after Thanksgiving!

Cozy doesn’t have to be cluttered

I opted for a lower centerpiece on my table this year, prioritizing conversation and connection over grandeur and drama. Big pieces are perfect for an entryway or console table, but think about flat decor that you can converse over for the tabletop. Pampas Grass works well for this, or a fall-themed garland like this one that features pomegranates and fall leaves. Votive candles are also a great way to add some coziness without adding too much bulk. When I need a little extra height, I keep tall pieces to a minimum—like taper candle holders with these perfectly pumpkin colored candles.

Textures are key

Y’all know I love mixing a variety of textures, patterns and colors—I think this is the best and easiest way to invoke a storied feel, and all it takes is a few pieces that tell different pieces of the same story. I opted for a plaid base, soft florals and some modern touches to vary the mood a bit. And of course, you can’t forget the scented candle! The perfect way to make your guests feel welcome the moment they step in the door.

Whatever you decide for your holiday decor this year, don’t forget to have fun! I always love wandering the aisles at my local Home Goods and seeing what speaks to me. Such a great way to enjoy the turn of each season and find new decor that fits within my budget. Happy decorating!
