Creating a Holiday Entertaining Story with Home Depot

A classic holiday gathering is layered, compelling and considers every detail of the partygoer’s experience. Keep reading for tips to help take your space and your event to the next level!

  1. Mix it Up

Choose a variety of patterns and textures that work well together

When decorating for the holidays, I always look for unique pieces with quality design that feel timeless and special. Don’t be scared to mix patterns, styles and eras on the holiday table—it’ll make your flow much more interesting! I love the classic vibe of a nice champagne flute, but the holidays are also perfect for cozy mugs with a retro vibe like these from Spode.

2. Nothing without intention

Consider every step of the entertaining process, from the arrival, to snacking, to dinner

Add a special moment for your guests to remember like a welcome cocktail, a stellar cheese board or a personalized after-dinner tea moment with this perfect Tea Box. Start your charcuterie game off strong with a Marble Platter or Mango Wood boards! Consider making the latest viral snack trend as an appetizer, like chips made from pasta in your Air Fryer (trust me, they’re delicious!)

3. Set yourself up for success

Prepare what you can ahead of time

Considering the smaller details before the day of the party is key to a successful event. Google Nest speakers can make it easy, taking the guesswork out of making a playlist and they’ll keep the vibe going in every room throughout the night. The Google Nest Hub is a great companion in the kitchen, perfect for reading recipes or searching for answers to last minute questions. Halo Smart Light Bulbs make the evening transition seamless, automatically turning on when you need them!

4. Work in Layers

Depth is everything

the perfect holiday entertaining story includes different levels of decorating, from the textiles and flatware to the cups and plates you use. Fresh flowers or greenery and flickering candles are the finishing touches you need to make your gathering extra special. And of course, don’t forget your Christmas Tree! No matter the size of the gathering, a well balanced tree is the best way to add that warm and cozy holiday feeling. On the table this year, I’m using this classic Ticking Square Tablecloth and accenting it with red and green napkins with a little sparkle. It’s the little things that make your gathering memorable!

5. Have Fun with It

Don’t stress yourself out too much

Remember, even as you work to make the perfect table and instagrammable moments, it’s the really life moments you’ll remember most. Make sure to leave time to enjoy the time with your loved ones and the fruits of your labor! After all, that’s what the holidays are all about!
